I am writing this as a reference for Nic Gilmore. I am a Project Engineer in Murfreesboro, TN and I had the pleasure to work alongside Nic on an extensive ITS project in Smyrna, TN. This ITS project involves 28 intersections connected by aerial fiber and has a contract value of over $1.2 million.
While working with Nic, I was able to see not only technical expertise but professionalism throughout the course of the work day. His company (Plan B) was prompt and willing to work long hours in order to get the job done. This speaks to the level of commitment they have no matter what the project is. I was able to also witness that his group had no issue in constructing fiber splice enclosures and performing fusion splices. Since I was CEI (Construction Engineering Inspector) on this specific job, Nic made it a point every day to let me know the goals for the day and specifically where his crew would be within the project area.
As a final point, if I were to recommend a company to do any fiber‐related work within the Middle Tennessee area, I would strongly recommend and consider Nic and Plan B for the job.

I would like to define some work performed by Plan B Operations. After speaking with Nioclas Gilmore, we decided to use his team to trouble shoot and investigate and repair fiber for a large hotel in Panama City beach. After engaging Plan B operation, we had to field investigate the fiber on site to evaluate the condition, verify existence and type. Then define scope what would be needed to be accomplished on site to make the network functional. After troubleshooting and investigating the condition of the fiber and the existing runs, Plan B understood our scope and made sound decisions and proposed options for the project fix.
Plan B teams performed testing of the fiber with a OTDR and light meter which allowed us to make better decisions of what to replace and what to fix. Plan B made it easy as they have the tools and equipment and experience to define to diagnose and fix the obstacles. They also understand the functionality of switches needed for the fiber and if we needed more fiber to make the network function and they caught a shortage in fiber of a faulty design. Plan B showed up on time and stayed until the three-day project was complete and provided test results and drawing of what was existing and what was fixed with pictures and explanations. Plan B performed the following: identifying and labeling fiber, testing, and fixing and repairing damaged fibers, pulling terminating a 12-strand single mode to allow the network to perform all in a professional, costly, and timely manner. We presently work with Marriot vacation resorts and have many customers that needed fiber to be tested and evaluated to support communications, fire alarm and security cameras at the Marriot.
We could not have been successful without the partnership of Plan B operations representing us on the project – I would strongly recommend the Plan B operations to make your fiber project successful!

My company had a contract this year for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) in Nashville, TN installing Fiber Optic communications cable on the I-24 corridor. I reached out to Mr. Gilmore to find out if his company would like to provide a quote for the fiber splicing and testing.
Mr. Gilmore provided me a quote and I executed a contract with his company and at this time the project is complete and there were no issues with the work Plan B performed.
The reason for my recommendation is the level of service and quality of worked that was performed by Plan B and Mr. Gilmore. Mr. Gilmore’s technical ability in this field rates in the top 10 of people I have utilized before in this field. The TDOT inspection team found no issues with the worked performed by Plan B and Mr. Gilmore also had all the required certifications to perform the work.
